I’m a big fan of tofu, and I often make many dishes from tofu. So today I will show you one of my favorite recipes. It’s fried lemongrass and chili tofu, Vietnamese is Đậu hũ chiên sả ớt! 


The ingredients are simple, include: three blocks of tofu, some lemongrass, spring onion, chili, coriander and cucumber.

The recipe:

Step 1:

Cut off the end of lemongrass, then peel off the outside parts. Cut it up. The smaller the better. 
Chop the chili. I just use only one and half chili, if you like to eat more spicy, you can put more.
Use the white part of spring onion and slice it into minced.

Step 2:

Cut the tofu into cube, then cut it in half without opening it widely.
Mix a bowl of minced lemongrass, some minced chili, white part of spring onion, half teaspoon of salt, half teaspoon of pepper and half teaspoon of sugar. 
Then mix it and put into the center of the tofu. 

Step 3:

Heat 2 tbsp of vegan oil in a pan and fry the tofu. 
Take the tofu out and put minced lemongrass into the pan. 

Step 4:

Add minced white part of spring onion and chili till fragrant and quite golden. Lower the heat, add 1 tbsp of soy sauce, add some water, 1 tsp of chili sauce, 1 tsp vegan of oyster sauce, half tsp of salt, 1 tsp of sugar, half tsp of pepper, and a little bit of turmeric powder to make the tofu have really nice color. Stir it well.

Step 5:

Put the tofu into the pan and carefully stir it for about 1 minute to mix the tofu and sauce together.

Step 6:

Then put it on a dish and decorate with some cucumber. Put the sauce and some coriander on top. You can serve this dish with soy sauce and chili for dipping.

This dish is really simple to make but so delicious. You can eat with rice, so so good!! It’s crispy outside and soft inside with good flavor from lemongrass. Hope you all enjoy this recipe!
